MagicMarker Example

MagicMarker provides user-definable notifications for any trended parameter, e.g., EEG asymmetry, alpha/delta ratios, seizure detections, and much more. These can be displayed at the bedside, announced with a sound file, or sent via email. The example below shows an example of trend and EEG image on a small screen via email attachment.

So, why not use a simple numeric pager alert? The reason is that a page and/or text message does not include enough information to act upon. For information that can be acted upon in a timely manner, you need to see the trends and EEG waveforms that triggered the notification.

MagicMarker's web output provides the ability to remotely view the trend and EEG waveform data, and navigate anywhere within the recording, using virtually any web browser.

Example

BED 1 Periodic seizures are particularly visible in the EEG asymmetry trends. To see the panel, click on the link for BED 1 below. Once you are there, use the "hot spots" on the MagicMarker Panel and EEG traces to navigate.

BED 2 Refractory Epilepsy. There are right and left hemisphere seizures throughout this recording. The most recent time is displayed, so click on the upper-left corner to page backward through the trends, and note the big seizure at 15:33, followed by beta after administration of Ativan. The new SQRT scale allows visualization of the seizures interspersed with the beta. Again, using OneTouchEEG you can jump right to the underlying EEG traces.

BED 3 Suppression-Burst Pattern. 4 y/o with status epilepticus secondary to presumed viral encephalitis. Was managed with pentobarbital induced burst suppression, using continuous EEG as a guide. Tracing starts with the patient in burst suppression, and then there are periods when it is more continuous. (Use the bottommost Suppression Ratio trend.)

BED 4 Wada Test. Note the EEG asymmetry trend for right and left carotid injections.

BED 5 CEA. Note the EEG asymmetry trend for clamp and shunt.

BED 6 Peds spikes. Short bursts of spike and wave, can be seen in spikes that appear in the black aEEG trends.

BED 7 GPEP. Patient state changes visible in uppermost spectrogram trends.

    • To view the underlying EEG traces, click on the MagicMarker Panel.

    • To page forward on the EEG trace, click on the right side of the EEG page.

    • To page back, click on the far-left side of the EEG page.

    • Each EEG trace image is 6 full pages of EEG! Use the scroll bar or your mouse wheel to scroll through the entire page.

    • Click on the upper-left area of the EEG page (on the file label "\MagicMarker EEG data 1\Clip.dat") to return to the MagicMarker Panel.

The following MagicMarker Home Page example has links for 10 beds to show how a simple multi-bed page may be set up.

Can be configured for any display size...
